American Search Dogs
American Search Dogs is a non-paid, professional search dog unit that
is incorporated as a charitable corporation under the state of Utah and
U.S. laws. The ASD Unit consists of multiple dog teams (team means
handler and his/her dog), and non-dog handling members. The unit is
a private, non-profit unit operating independently of any political entity.
There is no fee for ASD services. The unit serves all county, state,
and national search and rescue (SAR) agencies without prejudice, and
works cooperatively with all other SAR organizations.
American Search Dogs primary objective is using highly trained teams
to find lost persons and to give immediate first aid to save their lives.
The secondary objective is to have handlers that are knowledgeable and
have a basic working knowledge in other phases of SAR work, so that
we may assist agencies in other areas and become a more valuable
resource.
